Roundworld Conspiracy: The Empty Theatre & The Byrd Wall

Flat Earth Clues Part 1: The Empty Theatre

In this Video, Mark Sargent presents another very questionable piece of so-called evidence for his model of the Earth's shape, and the history of human discovery. You see, Hollywood movies are designed to brainwash us into not questioning the idea that the Earth is round.

And that aliens are just anthropomorphic versions of Earth animals, right?
Most films involving space travel are fantasy, and therefore you've already engaged your suspension of disbelief, so you get used to simply taking for granted that the Earth is round. He asks us to consider why it's so hard to find films about the moon missions; The Right Stuff (1983) and Apollo 13 (1995) were the only mainstream films since the end of the Apollo program to tell a non-fictional story relating to it. If you believe we live in a flat, domed world, and the sun, moon and stars are simply projections, (oh yeah, he'll suddenly start referring to them that way in a later video), then the moon landings have to have been faked, and "The Authority" doesn't want Hollywood drawing attention to it.

Alright, when you're resorting to Hollywood films to support your arguments, it suggests to me that you've already run out of ideas, and you're trying to sidetrack your opponent. The only things Hollywood films are evidence of are the decisions of Hollywood producers.

As for suspending disbelief, most of us learn to differentiate fantasy from reality as children, though factors like religion can confuse the process. Interestingly, recent studies have shown that if you buy into a conspiracy theory like the one being outlined by Mr. Sargent, it may be a symptom of a greater issue with such differentiation.

Part 2: The Byrd Wall

Right away, he starts off by establishing "a picture of credibility and trust" for Richard Byrd. Not to disrespect the Admiral, but this is pretty irrelevant if you can't show me documentation for any of his claims. That's the thing about science. There are no authorities, only experts, who are recognized because they have documentation of their contributions to the field. It's the documentation that's interesting. I've been able to find that Byrd's personal papers have been largely preserved, but not how a member of the public can access them, other than through the interpretations of a biographer. I haven't read much about Byrd, but like I said, the man himself doesn't matter, so I'll stipulate that Sargent may be right about the man.

He's using me for what!?
But from there, he uses television interviews as evidence. Byrd doesn't say anything about a barrier, or the world being flat, in fact he refers to Antarctica as "the bottom of the world". He does make reference to a large unexplored area beyond the pole, opposite "middle America", which Sargent seems to have interpreted as meaning beyond his barrier. The thing he's missing there is that if you're travelling south in the western hemisphere (of a round world) and pass over the South Pole, without any change of direction, you're suddenly travelling north in the eastern hemisphere. I would argue that the most reasonable speculation here is that Byrd was referring to the portion of Antarctica furthest from his home nation, in which he was giving that interview.

Why would Byrd eventually stop? Well he had been at it for decades, maybe he was ready to retire. But regardless, Sargent clearly states that he doesn't know why the Admiral stopped. That doesn't mean you get to make up an explanation, as Sargent seems to think it does.

As for the abundant resources mentioned, well, it's an entire continent, another large portion of the same planet that formed the other six, so it makes sense that mineral resources would exist in roughly the same abundance, at least in general terms. He argues that it's strange for nobody to be developing those resources, but consider the context that Sargent himself outlines. Antarctica was not really accessible until the technological advances of the last couple of centuries - especially the leaps of capability we experienced under the pressure of two World Wars. At the end of the second, we were finding ourselves at relative peace with these incredible powers that even a hundred years before would have been unimaginable. But there was also extreme tension between the two most powerful nations, and for the first time in history, we were an ill-timed sneeze away from a man-made Extinction Level Event. Antarctica has no native population, the world's only truly neutral territory. Would you have risked trying to claim those resources for yourself?

The Antarctic Treaty System took years to create, and has been under near constant revision and amendment ever since. That's why nobody's mining or drilling for money. It is an elaborate conspiracy, the world's governments are conspiring to NOT to start World War III.

That's it for parts I & II of the video, next up is Part II: The Map Makers, and depending on how long that runs, Part 4: Shell Beach.

MuaHAHAHA!!
